As we approach the election there is a considerable amount of attention being paid to the rising support of the left in Ireland. For the first time, Sinn Féin have surged ahead of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael in the polls. And while the smaller left-wing parties are not making substantial gains, some polls have shown that the left, taken as a whole, could garner something close to 50% of the overall vote….
