Informative article but something like 80% of soy produced worldwide is for animal feed, primarily cattle.

It's human consumption of beef that is driving the environmental destruction caused by soy cultivation, with the added negative effect of climate change causeing methane emissions.

Paradoxically, if we replaced beef with soy in our diets, there would be far less land used for soy production. This is because the cow is essentially an inefficient (albeit tasty) middleman for our soy consumption.
