It's always interesting to consider how an alternative history might play out.

If the Nazi's defeated Britain the US would almost certainly have had to come to an accommodation with the Nazi's. I definitely don't think they would have come to the USSR's aid when Hitler invaded them. On the other hand, Japan's expansionist policy was completely at odds with US interests in the pacific so war with Japan was probably inevitable, even without Japan firing the first shot.
