Profits Are Too Damn High
In 2010, Jimmy McMillan — a Vietnam War veteran, former postal worker, and an all-round eccentric — sought election to the office of Governor in New York. He had one simple slogan: “The Rent is Too Damn High”. The campaign was unsuccessful but the slogan itself proved highly popular, summing up as it did the issues of political economy with a clarity far removed from the usual banal statements of our political leaders.
