"The overpopulation awareness movement is about ethically & non-coercively bending trajectories toward more planet friendly levels via education, family planning, the empowerment of women and ecologically balanced, rather than GDP growth led, economic systems."

These are all noble aims but apart from the last one how is any of that going to address the current and urgent ecological crisis in the timescale needed?
The world population is gonna stop rising at some point but it'll be too late by then, so we need solutions in the here and now and it's not like we should promote depopulation....
So I just don't see how focusing on overpopulation is helpful at all, although obviously the more people that live on the planet, the more trouble we're in (although how those people live and consume is also a big factor, obviously)
And if you're only worried about local population levels where you are, what's the solution? Less immigration? If so, just say so (although that just transfers the problem elsewhere)
