That's definitely the nub of the problem, maybe the strategy should be for ordinary people to force a reconciliation of these aims by endangering the functioning of the capitalist system until proper mitigation on climate occurs. I think that's potentially possible but it would require a mass movement that doesn't exist yet (but could!)
